I decided not to blog this story before Christmas because I felt the timing was bad.
I don't go at the Food Bank too often.
I might add the individual you first meet when you walk through the door is Chris and he's an expert when it comes to public relation .
Very nice guy!!!
A few weeks before Christmas, someone picked me up and drove me to the Food Bank. It was my very FIRST TIME in that building.
I wasn't there for food. I wanted to do a Blog so people < including myself > will know more about this Food Bank?
I asked around - Who's in charge?
I was told that nobody was in charge of the Food Bank!!!
I was confuse..< not the first time > somebody has to give orders no???
After asking around, I was directed to this woman -
I told the woman that I was a Blogger in the City and if it was possible that I could do an interview?
Elizabeth told me in a VERY snobby way to stand in line with the rest of the people and asked Chris for an interview. I wondered if the Main Stream Media would have been told the same?
There's no way they were going to give me a tour of the new Building. As a matter of fact one staff asked me to go outside and take picture of the garden???..In the winter???
I knew this was my way out...The line up was gone so I asked - Hey? I should get a Turkey for Christmas.
They checked my name and told me that I haven't been at the Food Bank for over 2 years so therefore I have to re-register.
I quickly told them to keep their Turkey because the last time I had to give them some answers? I got really upset because one question was- How many bar of soaps do you used per week???
Sorry....no patience for those kind of questions...
Hey??? The Food Bank is a needy place but the attitude of the staff isn't one that I could deal with? So? Who runs the Food bank anyway? Why did they move to nowhere land? Why are they so secretive? How much food did they grow in their garden? Of course who Is Elizabeth Crawford Thurber anyway??? What's her background? Which Church runs this Food drive anyway??? Do they have Bus service in that area? Do they deliver in the South side???
So many questions but nobody to answer them....
I am so happy that the attitude of the Fredericton Soup Kitchen isn't the same!!!...Sigh....

How disappointing that the management of the Food Bank would not take advantage of the chance to publicise their cause and ask for donations and help.
I'm done with donating to them
This organization should have found the time to give you a tour and photo their facility. It would seem that there is a plan in effect to offer much better service to their clientele than in the past, and offer better services. One reads of potential to grow fresh great quality vegetables onsite, and i believe perhaps cooking classes to be offered to teach improved skills to interested parties. Any time good publicity can be spread,it is a win for the organization involved. I think there should be some reconsideration given to this situation, and would like to see Charles invited, at a mutually agreed upon time frame, to do a story on the new facility, their plans, and needs. You never know, readers may be available to help out in a supporting role.If the Executive Director is too buzy, by all means someone else should be appointed to do this interview. I await the outcome with great interest. Tax Payer John
Hi Charles and readers of Charles's Blog...Elizabeth C. Thurber is the real deal. She is a very hard worker and very busy running this opperation which has grown much in size since it moved from its old and very small location. Cut her some slack Charles, perhaps she was juggling ten things when you came in. Keep at it and you'll get an interview. Chris Smissaert
Sorry Chris...that was a one shot deal!!!
I find it sad that she has never made an effort to talk to me???
Something is VERY wrong in there...
Nothing wrong with you though....:)
