I have to blog this one....it's a story about the City of Fredericton planning to put a stop on cars taking a right turn on a red light.
This Journalist told the audience - As this corner located behind me....
Well...that corner is the corner of queen and regent street....it's a one way street...you can't turn right...
But that's ok...we all make mistakes...Bloggers included...:)

I had the same thought at first when they mentioned that intersection - however we both forgot that people coming off the bridge can turn right onto Queen street.
Seems to me the full time traffic guy at city hall needs to justify his existence with all these roundabouts and new traffic laws.
If the motor vehicle act allows right turns on a red light the city cannot over ride that with a by law - the higher law takes precedence and the city has no power. Interested to see where this goes as the city is exceeding its legal authority. More stealth taxes? I think so.
Why not put those intersections back to the way they were when I was a kid.
Walk lights every direction at the same time. Diagonal crossings were sweet.
That worked.
Do you know the city used a report from a foreigner to come up with this idea.
bigger better and more consistent warnings for pedestrians crossing is more appropriate than this stupid idea. Some pedestrian crossings have flashing lights, some have hard to see white figure and some have no lights at all. It is inconsistent, ununiified and confuses driveres. Big flashing lights of a consistent design is required but, of course, this city will go for the cheapest option that will bring in revenue because drivers have the legal right to turn right at intersections even with a red light. BS.
