Candlelight Vigil Will Mark 5th Anniversary of Boys in Red Tragedy.
(Bathurst, NB - January 10, 2013) - A candlelight vigil tomorrow evening will mark the fifth anniversary of a horrific crash that took the lives of a teacher and seven teenaged boys from the Bathurst High School Phantoms basketball team.
The vigil will be held at the site of a memorial on Highway 8 that was created in the aftermath of the tragedy. The memorial has become a permanent reminder of the eight lives that were lost on January 12, 2008: Javier Acevedo 17, Codey Branch 17, Nathan Cleland 17, Justin Cormier 17, Daniel Hains 17, Nikki Kelly 15, Nicholas Quinn 16 and Beth Lord.
Family and friends and the community are welcome to attend this quiet, respectful remembrance of the lives lost five years ago. The gathering begins at dusk on Friday, January 11, 2013 with the lighting of candles which will continue to burn into the early morning hours of Saturday, January 12.
The VanAngels group will not be taking any interviews and asks the media to respect this request.

It will be 5 years ago this Friday New Brunswickers received the shocking news from Bathurst. It was a time of deep mourning.
Sad.....
My deepest sympathy to the families on this very sad day....
Our Father, Who is in heaven,
Holy is Your Name;
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
