Anonymous said...: Very good point Charles.In NB we have more than one,it seems, French dialect. The Northshore sometimes has a difficult time understanding the French spoken in the "Chiac" area. Thats a fact, ask any NB Francaphone.In the event of a public official communicating with a NB Francophone, it is imperative that the person is able to understand what is being communicated. This is common sense, and common knowledge. Should the person be unable to understand, measures MUST be taken to ensure this is completed.Just ask the office of The Language Commisioner! Although NB is not oficialy more than bilingual, every measure is taken in the event a person speaks another language. Hell, we even have reciprocity with Korea re drivers license requirements, it appears and Frederictons Mayor has/had a sign in Korean in welcome on his desk.FPForce has more than one auxilary officer/cadet with a mother tongue other than our traditional English/French. There are some First Nation members able to converse in local languages as well.The point of the matter is, it surely cannot be that difficult to communicate, as a civil servant, paid by tax payer dollars, in a what some call "Chiac" as required. The rebutals will add the fact of many other countries of the world being able to speak several languages sucessfully. NB holds itself as Bilingual..what about the lack of ability in most work places of staff being unable to use even the most basic Please and Thank you, in our First Nation tongue?
