"For a couple of years now I've followed, very passively, LeBlanc's adventures. I first looked him up after he approached me when I was living in Fredericton and I couldn't stop internally laughing at his blogger jacket and hat. I had to read his blog, so I did. It was exactly what I expected - rambling, sometimes incoherent, often paranoid viewpoints on NB and mostly Fredericton that only someone with a tremendous amount of free time on their hands could produce. I mostly considered him a crackpot.

However, LeBlanc has had a few interesting and, I have to say, _important_ moments in his crackpot career. At Atlantica he raised public awareness about what it means to be a private journalist and how independent reporting has become a part of modern life now that literally anyone can circulate their work to anyone else in the world. He raised some very serious questions with me about how our provincial legislature is being run. He's been banned for life from our provincial government forum and for what? Civil disobedience and protest. You don't have to agree with what he was protesting or even respect it, but you _must_ respect his right to do it and you must respect the rights of the citizenry to participate in the political process.

There are several other concerning developments that I don't have space to go into. (Receiving a minor infraction ticket after the fact due to a 'report' from a citizen? Come on)

Now he's being criminally charged with libel. Ridiculous. 57 people in the history of the law have been charged with this. 23 convicted. This is the police very blatantly being heavy handed with someone who annoys them. That's not how I want my police force to behave. Grasping for ways to harass, intimidate and silence their critics? Get real and get accountable.""
