CASE WORKERS FROM NEW BRUNSWICK SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT WILL NOT COMMUNICATE WITH THEIR WELFARE RECIPIENTS VIA EMAIL!!!

Well....this is not good!!!

My old Case worker retired a few months ago.

Her name was Erma Jones and she was very well known among the activists in this area. She went by the books and that was that!!

At the beginning, I had a few clashes with Erma but after a few trips to the Head Office? She decided to leave me alone.

We got along just fine.

Last Friday, I happened to be in a vehicle and asked to stop by the Social Development Building so I can meet my new Case Worker.

It's located way out in nowhere land.

I was directed to a booth and called her.

I asked if I could contact her via email?

She told me that under privacy issues? She couldn't!!

I got a little upset and she came down to meet me face to face.

She sounded nice but I wasn't certain who I was dealing with?

A snob? A person who's a Casual Worker? Who?

I asked - Are you a casual or full time worker?

She told me that she was Full Time!!

I asked if she knew what a Blogger was?

She didn't!!!

Sighhhh.......< Must have been living under a rock? >

I explained to my case worker that she asked her Supervisor that if it's ok for her to accept my emails?

It was OK with Erma Jones < Did it for years > So why not my new Case worker???

This morning, I received this Mail at my home!!

Not good!!!

If I need some answers on a serious issue? I'll have to wait for days for an answer!!!

This is not good News!!!

People will say - Big Deal!!! Just used a Pay-phone!!!

Nope!!! Because if you get the answering machine? You can't tell her to phone you back!!!

A neighbor's Phone?

Nope!!! Because this is Private issues and you don't want your neighbor to hear all your private life issues.

So? It was bad enough that the snobs decided to move the Social Development Building to the highest peak of the City but now this???

snob

I'm going to confront the Bureaucrats and Minister on this issue!!!

Stay tuned!!!!

So you're pissed off at a women at the legislature for violating privacy legislation that doesn't apply and you're pissed off at another woman for not violating privacy legislation that does apply.

is a policy or is a legislation ..
it a big difference ..

a policy can be broke for special purposes depending on the persons

Email is sent plaintext, the equivalent of sending a postcard.

Try Skype. : )

I used email.... STILL do with my clients! Not only is it efficient for both parties, it is private. I also find that several of them are more open to share their issues with me. Email and other technology are great tools for communication.

I wonder what the underlying big deal is..... very silly and out of touch with how effective these tools can be.
Keep us posted.

To the posters 8:05 PM, "awareness" and Anonymous 8:13 AM:

Ask Santa to bring you one of those "Dummies" or "Complete Idiot's Guide" books on basic computer and information security.

Anyone who thinks email is a safe and secure way of communicating confidential information, is just waiting to be hacked.

If you think it's so safe, go ahead and add your credit card number, SIN and DOB to your email signature and see how long it takes for your ID to be stolen.

Idiots...

You don't want your neighbor to hear your private details, but you'll chance the internet reading it? Makes sense...

Also, do you know how many computer servers in how many offices receive that email before you get it? More hands than the post office that for damn sure.

Go get a Koodo cell phone. $15/mth, no contract. Problem solved.

I didn't say I could read your email, only that email is the equivalent of sending a postcard.

Just because computers are doing the work, doesn't mean that there isn't an untrusted node in the chain from you to the sender/recipient.

Our case worker in Fredericton was Sue Thompson - one of the nicest people I've ever met. We were allowed to correspond via email and that was extremely helpful. Now Marilyn Kerton, on the other hand, ugh. Some people need training in "working with people"
