Just happened 40 minutes ago....not sure if he died.....stay tuned!!!

UPDATE -

The Driver wasn't at fault!!!

ANOTHER SAD UPDATE!!!!

ANOTHER UPDATE!!!

I was going to write a blog on this issue but I might as well post my story in here!!!

I returned to the scene and a woman recognized me near the Truck that hit the citizen.

It was a female and it was her husband that was the driver.

She told me the whole story.

Minutes later, an undercover Cop showed up.

He told the couple that they could go home.

They asked the officer- Can we go at the hospital and visit the guy they hit with their truck.

The cop replied in a professional manner - That wouldn't be a good idea because in most case the family of the person who gets by a vehicle blames the driver.

He assured the couple that he will call them at home when he finds out more details.

That was that!!!

The Fredericton Police Officer acted like a true professional!!!

Get the story first Charles, THEN report it. Don't be scaring people with posts like this until you know more about what happened.

Charles LeBlanc said...

They have the area tape as a crime scene so I presume he's dead....

Why is grass growing up in the sidewalk cracks? Looks like hell.

sad, Some one had to die because the driver felt that he/she was so important they could sneak past the light or did not bother to look. The drivers in this town are awful and the police sit on their ass and refuse to enforce traffic laws.

Charles, it's inappropriate to put it out there as a possible death. People who saw it or who know who it was can get word of your report and jump to painful conclusions that they're dead when the person may not actually be dead. It's extremely stressful on people, like the time you reported that they may have found the man drowned in the river earlier this year (without proof or confirmation from the police when you first posted it), or the time you posted pictures Tony laying on the ice two years ago. This isn't your ADHD, this is being basically inconsiderate of people's feelings. It's not a trivial matter someone dying, so *learn* Charles, and don't make assumptions.

This is why you're not a "reporter"... you can't "report" based on assumption. Crime Scene Tape doesn't mean someone is dead....

"Why is grass growing up in the sidewalk cracks?"

Because there's soil between each concrete section. Sheeeesh.

the person hit is in serious condition

Did anyone noticed the question mark with my headline???

Anonymous said...

Fishergirl, I agree completely, but it's exactly this kind of drama that Charles thrives on. This particular post scared the daylights out of me because my brother works right there in the area and he often walks on his afternoon breaks. After a few frantic minutes, I was able to contact him and confirm that it wasn't him. I sure hope the victim or victims in this accident pull through.

The road are still blocked by the Police...

More proof why blogger and journalist do NOT go hand in hand.

Charles, a punctuation mark doesn't make your statements acceptable. The headline could easily scare the hell out of anyone at first glance.

More importantly, you said at 4:20 "They have the area tape as a crime scene so I presume he's dead..."

That's what Gord Perry was talking about when he said crime scene tape doesn't mean someone is dead.

My hat is off to Anonymous 4:14, Fishergirl, and Gord Perry. I completely agree with all of you.

Charles will you ever stop and think before posting something so serious to your blog?

You have no facts; only assumptions. Please stop and think how reading something like this might possibly make YOU feel if it were someone you know before hitting that enter key.

Charles, if you had any credibility or integrity, or if you were at all a trustworthy 'reporter' before posting this 'story', it's all gone now.

I cannot say whether or not the driver was speeding or not, or running a light. I was at the intersection on a city bus at the time. I did not see the accident happen, only looked up the second after it happened. But from what the rest of the people on the bus, who did witness it, were saying it appeared as though the pedestrian was running across the street, not in the cross walk. Not defending either the pedestrian or the driver- just wanted to make the point that it may not be totally the fault of the driver. There are a lot of crazy drivers here for certain, but there are a lot of people who jaywalk in Freddy too. I am guilty of jaywalking and I think many people, including myself, do not really think what they are doing is very dangerous; today really brought that point home to me. Regardless of who is to blame, I am keeping this pedestrian in my thoughts and prayers.

I agree with the majority of posters LeBlanc

Stop making assumptions when you don't have the brain matter to make assumptions.

The person is in serious condition last I checked, and that was reported by TRUE journalists, not some wannabe hack. My god man, when the hell will you learn?

Well, I agree Charles likes to 'inflame passions' a little too much. But since he's taking a beating here I'd just like to add to people that it says RIGHT UNDERNEATH the headline "not sure if he died".

However, given that Charles uses question marks almost instead of periods and exclamation points, that's no defense.

I agree Charles should be a little less exploitive, but people should really READ the story, for heavens sake it was right underneath the headline.

It doesn't matter one bit what was under the headline. That doesn't negate the other, ridiculous, statements he made.

Former NHLers Brad McCrimmon, Pavol Demitra, Karel Rachunek, Ruslan Salei, Karlis Skrastins, and Josef Vasicek and the rest of their KHL team all die in a fiery plane crash in Russia today. Apparently the plane could not gain altitude quick enough and clipped a tower at the end of the runway and crashed and exploded.

Charles please take more care when posting this sort of thing. Do not give your detractors ammunition to shoot you down with.

How about doing a story on that Nanny-Statesman Tim Kelly who wants to ban outdoor smoking?

What a twit!

To Mikel, I know you are a friend of Charles; I to know him on a personal basis but cannot defend him when he does something without thinking.

I did read his headline with the question mark and yes I even saw the"not sure if he died" remark RIGHT UNDERNEATH the headline but that still does not excuse his lack of judgement.

I do have to say that the driver is my husband and it has been determined that he ws not at fault by the police. We are very saddened that this has happened and we will continually keep the victim and his family in our prayers. Our hearts are broken!!!! My husband may never drive again. Witnesses did state that the gentleman that ws walking did jaywalk...mind you that does not excuse the fact that he is now in serious condition. I do have to say in Charles defence is that this is a blog??? Then take it for face value!!! If you afre looking for the news??? Then check out thier websites...No offence Charles!!!People like gossip so therefore they will read just about anything!!! Please remember to be careful walking and driving everyone. Accidents happen no matter who or where you are!!! May God Bless The families who are involved!!!!

What a bunch of Idiots! Charles ,Excellent Job of Reporting the accident its just these Idiots are Jealous they weren't there first!
You may have jumped the gun on reporting but your Human therefore subject to making mistakes!

Charles does not thrive on it,it is important to Him thats why he is showing it to us! A person Has passed and it Hurts to Charles and the Family because He cares about Life and People even the small and unknown!

CHARLES MIGHT HAVE MADE A MISTAKE or DONE SOMETHING IMPROPER and should go to hell because of this story.

Probably the Cops leaving nasty comments, that dont like showing their skinheads without Shades hiding their Eyes?

Charles was right!
So Charles did have the right story! The man was in serious shape.
Prays to all!

Fishergirl said...

Yeah, we all read the headline, and saw the question marks...but it's just like saying something harsh and then typing a few 'happy face' icons after it, as if it makes harsh words ok or takes the edge off what was said. It does NOT make it any nicer, and the use of question marks doesn't take the edge off.

There's always a way to word a headline to properly represent the situation. And no, the person who died wasn't dead at the time it was told about here, the man died hours later. SO. It's poor form to elude to a death before it happens, and without knowledge of facts....so it's just a blog? Doesn't matter if it's just a blog or not, as he self-identifies as 'media' and wants to be recognised as 'media'... it's extremely distressing to readers wondering if it might be their own loved one involved. It's borderline slander. .....doesn't matter how many question marks are used.

My sincere condolances to the family and friends of the deceased.

"My sincere condolances to the family and friends of the deceased."

Meanwhile Charles is being wined and dined in class! So by whom? The buserries? The FPD, the CONSERVATIVES? The Olands? The Irvings? The rcmp? Anyhow, it looks like he has hit the "set for life" stage.

To the first bunch of idiots who made the comments section of this article about a sad incident filthy and vile, it's time to get over yourselves.

To hear that someone has died might be shocking, but given that Charles' post would pass a US hospital patient information exam, I think you should let your personal issues with him slide the next time such an important (and accurate) report is posted.

Best wishes to the surviving family.

There was another accident this evening (Thursday) in front of the Scotiabank in King's Place (just got home around 8:30pm and the police were still there). From what I saw, it appeared a cyclist was struck by a vehicle. I hope he's ok. Anyone have any details?

Excellent reporting Charles!

More closeups please.

How about a little followup... maybe contact the hospital and or the Policy officers who you likely know and were there.

I would like so much information and detail to be able to read the name tags on Policy officers.

Excellent one... Charles you had us all running for the phones to locate or loved ones.

Thank you!
