Fredericton Police Force - See and Be Seen this Winter!!!

IMGP2033

See and Be Seen this Winter

A Roadway safety message from the Fredericton Police Force.

The NB Motor Vehicle Act stipulates that a vehicle must be free of anything that obstructs or is liable to obstruct the driver’s clear view of the highway. This includes snow, frost and steam. Failing to keep a vehicle’s windows clear of obstruction while driving can result in a $172.50 fine.

With another winter season we find ourselves scraping, defrosting and defogging our vehicle’s windows. Visibility is one of the most important safety factors in keeping our roadways safe. Driving with snow, frost or steam covered windows limits the driver’s vision and creates a very dangerous situation for other motorists and pedestrians.

Tinted windows are also a form of obstruction; in New Brunswick it is an offense to tint the front windshield and the front side windows of a vehicle. Factory tinting is easily disguisable from aftermarket tinting and police can use a tint meter to measure the amount of light passing through a car window. It is illegal for aftermarket tint to block more than 30% of light passage. Tints that are installed at the vehicle factory pass the 30% test.

Window tint is considered dangerous as it prohibits other drivers and pedestrians from seeing hand jesters, eye contact and other driver actions from inside the tinted vehicle.

The Fredericton Police Force ask you to take the extra time during these winter months to ensure that all vehicle windows are clear and will remain so during your travels.

During the months of January and February the Fredericton Police Force will provide extra enforcement around obstructed vehicle windows.

LOL "hand jesters". Tinted windows prevent people from seeing the puppet shows I put on while driving.

The NB Motor Vehicle Act is not law unless you agree to it as being law.

I clean off my windows so I can see but I sure do not follow the NB Motor Vehicle Act.

People are number than a frozen rubber boot these days.

Looks like Woodside told 'em to go get their pension money the old-fashioned way.

You gotta be pretty heartless to give an old woman a fine because she didn't get every centimeter of ice off her windows before heading downtown.

Then again, you gotta be pretty heartless to keep addicts enslaved and dependent on monopoly drug dealers just so you can pretend to be protecting children.
