CANADA LOSES TO THE RUSSIANS AT WORLD HOCKEY JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

They deserved to lose because they came into the Third Period leading 3-0 but played like a bunch of wimps!!!

Maybe the 3rd period should have been played like this!!!

No hitting whatsoever!!!

What a bunch of wimps!!!!

This is for one of the commenter -

I used to be a very hyper and rough goalie!!!!

Billy Smith and Hextall were my heroes!!!!

Anonymous said...: Wimps? Far from wimps you ignoramus. They lost because they tried to run the Russians through the boards, but the Russians were too fast and got out of the way. The Russian Coaching Staff saw what was happening and made sure that there was always an extra player whenever the Canadians tried to run a Russian. The extra would grab the puck and then they used their speed to go hard to the net. You have no concept of the game of hockey. To sit at your computer and call these guys wimps is an insult to them, their uniform, and our flag. You owe them an apology.

Canada tried to play kitty-bar-the-door in the last part of the 2nd period and that slowed their momentum. Factor in a goalie change and overwhelming desire to win, the Russians did something truly amazing.

The Russians are the only team in history to lose their first two games and win the tournament. This is the second time that they have done this, the last time when the WJC was in Halifax.

The Russians came from behind in their last 3 games to win the championship, another 'miracle' on ice.

They should have went on the ice and HIT HIT HIT!!!

They didn't so therefore deserves the eggs heading their way!!!

I agree though, 'hitting' doesn't win games. I was a lousy player AND goalie but I know just playing the game by definition makes you not a wimp. It's hard work, like any sport-and WATCHING and TYPING are NOT sports-for good reason.
How soon we armchair commentors forget basic facts we teach kids-its not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game. Charles has a right to his opinion, and shouldn't have to apologize for it, but its quite right that commentors point out the horrible hypocrisy of people who will chastise players when they get too rough, and then post pictures of fights and suggest "maybe this is how they should have played".
Very few people remember the goons of hockey. Gretzgy was no goon, bobby orr was no goon, gordie howe was no goon. We are trying to eradicate violence from sports, so any young player reading this should know that there is NEVER any shame in losing-and you don't need to apologize for anything. And any couch potato that would be 'embarassed' by a hockey game played by people they've never met should really get out more.

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, most important, and this is something that unfortunately our society has forgotten, is that you have FUN. A country is in a bad way when people's identity hinges on the actions of OTHER people.

But OK, Gordie Howe WAS a goon, but it proves my point in that nobody remembers him as a goon. If he hadn't been such a great player then nobody would remember him for his penalty minutes.
Apart from some Don Cherry afficionado's, nobody remembers 'great fights' so much as great plays, games, and players. Even the Hanson Brothers were easily talked into playing 'old time hockey' pretty easily (even though old time hockey was pretty brutal).; 7:21 PM, January 06, 2011

The full excerpt is 'watching the Germans “wriggle & stew in their own juice — even as they with cruel and evil eye would see us of inferior heritage and stock wriggle.”'

Given the number of young men this Doctor must have witnessed dieing at the hands of the Germans, I am not going to judge.

Remember too, victory was not guaranteed. It is easy to look back and say this and that should not have been done.
