The Victory Meat Market in Fredericton has me confuse!!!

img_4106IMGP0757

Are you confuse???

Please explain!!!

SAYS IT ALL IN THIS VIDEO -

Charles,

A lesson that should be taught in all schools . And colleges

Back in September, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a
social studies school teacher at Robinson High School , did something
not to be forgotten.
On the first day of school, with the permission of the school
superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she removed
all of the desks out of her classroom.

When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there
were no desks.

'Ms.. Cothren, where're our desks?'

She replied, 'You can't have a desk until you tell me how you earn the
right to sit at a desk.'

They thought, 'Well, maybe it's our grades.'

'No,' she said.

'Maybe it's our behavior.'

She told them, 'No, it's not even your behavior.'

And so, they came and went, the first period, second period, third
period. Still no desks in the classroom.

By early afternoon television news crews had started gathering in
Ms.Cothren's classroom to report about this crazy teacher who had
taken all the desks out of her room.

The final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found
seats on the floor of the deskless classroom, Martha Cothren said,
'Throughout the day
no one has been able to tell me just what he/she has done to earn the
right to sit at the desks that are ordinarily found in this classroom.
Now I am going to tell you.'

At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom
and opened it.

Twenty-seven (27) War Veterans, all in uniforms, walked into that
classroom, each one carrying a school desk. The Vets began placing the
school desks in rows, and then they would walk over and stand
alongside the wall... By the time the last soldier had set the final
desk in place those kids started to understand, perhaps for the first
time in their lives, just how the right to sit at those desks
had been earned..

Martha said, 'You didn't earn the right to sit at these desks. These
heroes did it for you. They placed the desks here for you. Now, it's
up to you to sit in them. It is your responsibility to learn, to be
good students, to be good citizens. They paid the price so that you
could have the freedom to get an education. Don't ever forget it.'

By the way, this is a true story.

Please consider passing this along so others won't forget that the
freedoms we have in this great country were earned by War Veterans.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that most retail organizations have put the Christmas retailing decor, ads etc out way in advance of Nov 11th? Does one word, GREED, sum it all up? Anything for a buck culture? This Victory sign is weird as well..whats up with this anyway?

Anonymous said...

It just you. The alive people love and appreciate the hard work a retailer has to do too survive.
I can explain the Victory sign! They must normally open earlier, but on that day they are delaying untill 10.?

We've soiled the memories and lessons learned in WWII so much with a decade-long terror war (and similar criminal enterprises since the fall of Hitler) that Nov. 11th might as well have never been remembered to begin with.

I taught everyone remain silent at 11:00am!

My mistake I guess?

As an "alive person" i resent your comment. I, if anyone appreciate what it takes for business to operate, having "been there, done that". The folks at Victory are great people, i wish them no malice or bad publicity. Charles point about silence at 11/11/11 and paying respect is at the heart of the matter, and the sign on the Victory is a bit different, thats all. I am not at all associating Victory with the anything for a buck culture, perhaps my comment is ill placed on this posting. Charles, it may be best to remove my comment, it was directed at the Big Box stores, and not to be seen as a slur towards the good folks at Victory. Thanks!

The service at the Victory Meat Market is out of this world.....

Poster 633 am, yes it indeed is sad isnt it. It certainly causes one to reflect on our society and how we live each day within it. A kinder gentler world would be a welcome embrace wouldn't it.

The service is great and the owner is a very responsible guy and a great community guy. We are lucky to have them here, they work hard to get the job done, no question.

When will our governments legislate that nothing but essential services is closed on November 11th?
That's what we need.
Only then will Rememberance Day truly be a day of rememberance.
Fire, police, hospitals, THAT'S IT. Everyone else, off to remember, hopefully they go to a service.

Tis people like YOU who have turned many people against joining your kind in "observing" remembrance day! Instead of appreciating what people and government did you started nothing but DEMANDING, just like the people who start wars! Your now a worse exploiter of peoples sympathies then any other outfit, constantly whining 365 days a year. Just go live your life and stay out of other peoples. And Christmas is GREAT, Santa comes and all Children and Parents are happy. That must bug ya!

Sure, brainwash the kids with this email sam crap!
Well I taught my kids to observe remembrance day, I now teach my grandchildren not to get sucked in by the veterans day exploiters.

"When will our governments legislate that nothing but essential services is closed on November 11th?"

Nothing says freedom like using the power of the state to force people to do something.

Respect freely given is worth a thousand time more than respect tarnished by force.

At least they didn't pull an Amerika (a.k.a. Torture inc.) and advertise a Remembrance day blowout:

the only reason nothing out standing is done for Rememberance day is because so far no one can really cash in on it >>>

all people wants these days is money and power they do not care about anything else

The best thing about many many of the negative comments is the fact that there are only a few of them. Most people will choose to remember these old boys and girls who for whatever reason, in the prime of their lives, sacrificed alot more than they anticipated in the name of ideals reflected by our society at that time. I respect them. I will remember them.

Negative comments are generally from someone who has read at least one book, instead of what brainwashing tells them. Thats the facts.

Does City Motel still do a Remembrance Day Display. I am a veteran that lives in Minto and I always found the display of Crosses a reminder that people remembered all the good men who served. I can't get to Fredericton as often as I use to but on Nov 11 I remember we fought for Peace. It was to be the last war...thats what you need to remember. Truly wish I could forget.
