What’s happening?
Fraser Papers asked for the protection of the courts
under the Companies Creditors Arrangement Act
(CCAA) on June 18, 2009. Brookfield Asset
Management is currently Fraser Papers’ controlling
shareholder (70.5%).

Fraser Papers’ secured creditors are CIT Business
Credit ($48M), the New Brunswick government
($35M) and Brookfield Asset Management ($25M).
The unsecured creditors are owed $253 million,
mostly to the pensioners ($171M) and the laid-off
workers waiting for their severance ($12M).
