Is the Economy good in Fredericton???

A few months ago, someone suggested that I go around the City and take pictures of the empty building or Businesses.

Well? Since I have way too much time on my hand? I decided to check it out.

I began at the end of King Street.

The place you forgot about..was a cash and carry operation..owned by TRA a division of the Sobey's empire of Stelarton,NS. Could be a great boat launch in the spring flood! I seem to remember speculation of an individual wanting to develop it into a large residential property? Quite an eyesore eh! Oh well, took years and years for movement on the decrepit Train Stn, guess we shouldn't hold our breath for anything coming here very quickly. Just wondering..are comments down with the use of the word verification set up?

Good point...I remove the word verification but if the spammers comes back?

I'll have to put it up again!

The numbers of hits are growing.....

Where will I get my nicknames now that you removed word verification? said...

But the economy is GOOD in Fredericton huh Charles?

Here is a guarantee. By the end of 2010 the purchasing power of paper currency will go down by at least 25%, there will be a false-flag terror attack in North America, and our civil liberties will be eroded even more.

The world is in Depression and Fredericton is in denial!

What's really sad is to see some of those large buildings (like the old grocery store) and then see all the homeless and the waiting list for low income housing. What a waste.

But that's only half the story. They say to gauge the economy you have to count how many restaurants close and how many pizza places open. During hard economic times people's eating habits change-but they always buy cheap pizza.

I get my name from a cereal box said...

@Mikel Cheap pizza in Fredericton? Surely you jest!

Wow, Charles.... It's only when you show them all at once do you realize just how sad things really are. I agree with you about the old grocery store on Queen. Great locale for the bus depot. It used to be Lo-food years ago. I hear there is a proposal to turn the location into a "family" entertainment centre. If they are going to accept that, I think the city should also include a big water slide into the river.

The old welfare office? It's owned by the Feds. Find out how many millions have recently gone into the refurbishing of it. That'll blow your socks off.

Hey Charles,

You did a much better job than the official City of Fredericton web site at:

http://www.investfredericton.com/search-real-estate/

They are missing a lot of the properties you posted.

Don't forget that empty space can be a good thing. This way there will be room for new businesses to come in and create jobs.
