Throw the book at the driver and the passengers who went along with the cover up for all this time!
There is no excuse for leaving the scene of a crime - the only one I can think of is they were trying to save their own A**ES because they were drunk or stoned or had dope in the car. The only dope in that car was the driver and her passengers who were cowardly enough to drive away from a dying woman. Shame, shame, shame. What makes it worse is that it took this long for them all to fess up to the crime. I'll say it again. Throw the book at the driver and the passengers in the car who took the cowardly - and criminal - way out.

Make an example out of them so that another driver will think twice before fleeing the scene of an accident.

Do not pass judgment on another human until you walk in their shoes.

Learn compassion. You should forgive them for their act.

Yes this is a sad situation but your attitude speaks volumes about the type of person that you are.

I will pray for you!

Ya ya. I knew it wouldn't take long before God was dragged into this. Just leave it up to God and everything will come up wine and roses. Whoo hoo. Great defense. Thank "God" you're not their lawyer.

I say keep God out of it and leave it up to the LAW to decide what they did was wrong or right. No lynch mob. Just a judge and jury and the facts. That should be enough to throw the lot of them in jail for a few months. That's all they'll get anyways for their crimes and duplicity.

I think it was just an accident, they got totally scared and ran,It happens often! I dont think thier intent was to go out and run over someone?
I bet you hiding from it was worse than being caught, thier probably relieved now!

Now comes the Mess of sorting out who did what and how?

this family is more dysfunctional than the Osburnes!

If she's 20 years old and she is even remotely connected to modern society I bet she has a FACEBOOK site and she's been blithely posting to it since the "accident" as if everything was normal.
CU!
LOL!
BRB!
WTF!
I see the driver was crying crocodile tears in the courtroom today. How much do you want to bet she wasn't crying on her FACEBOOK site since she ran over Diane Trottier and left her for dead in the middle of the street.

ah... the irony of Ms. West being part of the "people against texting while driving" group on Faceplate. How mush do you want to bet that her becoming a member of the group correlates with the date of the incident.

Here's her Facebook:

http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=508402001

She's a member of a group called "People Against Texting and Driving"

Either that was a saracastic joke about her belonging to a FACEBOOK site about "texting and driving" OR someone - probably her lawyer - advised her to remove herself from FACEBOOK because it's not working anymore.

Amazing what you can do with a username and password whispered through the bars of a cold jail cell.

Probably a wise move because I can imagine her FACEBOOK site was just overflowing with juicy stuff that the media and the Crown Prosecutor would have loved to get their hands on.

Have no fear, police investigators. FACEBOOK has a back up and all you have to do is ask for it and the Lord shall provide (thank God for Him!).

Then there are her text messages and emails. Oh my, the motherlode!

Then we'll know exactly what Ms. West was up to in the days and weeks and months that have passed since the night she ran over Diane Trottier and left her in the street to die without so much as a blink of an eye.

I'm waiting for all the cop haters to blame them for everything!!

Here's my unqualified theory: Weather and lighting conditions at that time were bad. They will need to establish that the victim was crossing the light when she was supposed to and that she wasn't all gooned up herself. Can't see how they will be able to charge the driver with alcohol or drug impaired. It seems they are pretty limited on what they can charge with.

I'm neutral as far as cops go, like some, not others. Being totally fair, I think they've got a big job ahead proving the charges they have laid. Must of taken a pile of search warrants and work. To even have identified suspects causes me to give them a thumbs up, I'll hold the other in reserve to see how good a job they actually did once the case goes to court. As for the people involved, I think they failed the human morality test and really hold no pity for them.

"Weather and lighting conditions " Don't excuse a hit and run.

Whatever the victim did during the course of events doesn't excuse a hit and run.

You're a real jackhole to be victim blaming a women who died because of a hit and run.

You hit something on a cold rainy night - maybe you had a drink, maybe you just didn't feel like stopping in the rain - whatever your excuse - the next day you should have turned yourself in. But there were allegedly 5 of you - one of you must have somehow had a conscience. how cana 20 year old intimidate and threaten. Make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers and she's arrested. She can't hurt you from there. No matter what she said, it it not as bad as what she did and the others sho knew are jsut as guilty. Did you all enjoy the Holidays, have a few with friends, shop and open gifts - laugh and enjoy family - all with a death on your conscience - you haevno conscience. The law is the law but this is totally unacceptable - no matter the family history - did all 5 have a poor family history. It's time for people to take responsibility for their actions and stop blaming their life and their parents. No tears will make me feel sorry for the driver - whomever he/she might be.
