New Brunswick Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

The Executive Director will be responsible for the administration of the day to day operations of the Society and the provision of leadership and staff support to accomplish the goals and mandate of the NBSPCA. The Executive Director will: oversee animal protection and animal control services; liaise with Branch Societies and shelters, government, and other organizations; ensure effective financial management of the Society; participate in strategic planning; and develop new strategies, particularly in the areas of communications and humane education.

As the ideal candidate, you must have a Bachelors degree in Administration, Business or a related area, and strong interpersonal and communication skills, including proficiency in English and French. You have at least 5 years of senior management experience, preferably with a non-profit organization, including supervisory experience and experience working effectively with a volunteer Board of Directors. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel software is also required. Knowledge of animal welfare issues would be an asset.

Position: Animal Protection Officer

Reporting to: Chief Animal Protection Officer

The NBSPCA has an openings for Animal Protection Officers in the following areas:

One full time for York, Sunbury and Queens County; one full time and one part-time for Westmorland Albert and Kings County.

The successful candidates will be responsible for responding to complaints of animal cruelty and neglect in the assigned area. In addition this individual will be responsible to respond to complaints from the public for issues dealing with rural dog control.

Qualifications:

Must be bondable and have no criminal record
Must have a driver’s license and vehicle
Must be willing to receive training as required
Must have excellent communication skills to be utilized with both the public sector and other team members
Must have good writing skills with attention to detail
Once fully trained should be able to work with minimal supervision
Ability in both official languages and asset
Previous experience in law enforcement would be an asset
In house training will be provided for the successful candidate(s).

At the end of this training the candidate(s) will be expected to successfully complete the provincial exam before being appointment as an Animal Protection Officer.
