NB Power Sale to be blocked: Legal Challenge Being Planned

NB Power Sale to be blocked: Legal Challenge Being Planned

This story is a bit self-serving but you will see why that is part of the story after reading this article.

I had designed a basic T-shirt that was intended to raise money for a legal fund to fight the sale of NB Power to Hydro Quebec. I had grown frustrated and angrier that there had been no legal challenge brought forward to fight this act of Financial Terrorism by the New Brunswick LIEberal Party.

However it has come to my attention that I may in fact be breaking the law by doing this. So I can not promote this as an avenue to raise money for a legal fund to fight the government.

In my initial master plan I had intended for the administrators of Facebook Group “NO to Sale of NB Power” to distribute the money to the official legal team and that is where I ran into a road block.

the original article below. If it crossed out then it no longer applies. I left it because it was part of the story.

For each T-shirt sold, $5.00 is guaranteed to be donated to a legal fund, should someone be willing to take on the task. If any money is left over or no legal fund established, then these funds will be donated to the United Way.

As a disclaimer, the T-Shirt will cost $24.25 in US Funds plus shipping, handling, taxes, and/or duty. From that, $5.50 is considered profit. I am donating $5.00 to the fund on behalf of the purchaser leaving $0.50 per shirt sale as a management fee. The rest of the money goes to the T-Shirt company.

I do not want to make any money off of this but decided to keep $0.50 per sale. I will use that money for any expenses I incur from this venture. Any money that is left over from that will be used to buy silver bullion for one lucky winner in a contest open to anyone who buys a T-Shirt. The amount of silver will be dependent on the current price at that time and the amount of T-Shirts sold.

To enter this part of the contest just buy the shirt, send me proof of purchase, and a digital photograph of you in it. The more people in on this, the more money is raised to fight this fight, as well as you get to win a prize of real money…silver bullion.

Hmm The article I sent had all of the following struck out:

None of this no longer applies. Don't know why it did not show up correctly in your blog Charles. Maybe you should delete that part.

Provide proof that this is a money scam or retract your comment.

Saying that I am running a scam is libelous and I consider it slander.

Why would anyone attempt to get a private photograph of someone? And silver bullion! Thats a little far fetched, for normal people.

Magos said...

Give the man a break it can't be slander if all he's doing is giving his opinion.

Sounds like a pretty straight forward business deal. Your .50 cut per shirt is well below the standard most would charge in management fee, me included.
I'm working on a deal like this at the moment with a lady out of N.S. Different product same pricing and I'm going with industry standard of 2.50 per unit.
I wasn't going to respond but wanted to insure Jame's were not being confused.

Hey Telecrap, James only gave his opinion he is not slandering anybody. Now Charles slanders people.

I don't know about a "scam", but $25 US??!

You can have a t-shirt like that made and printed, in Fredericton, for $10. Canadian.

hey 1:38pm???

Name me one blog where I slander people???

:P

Accusing someone of running a scam is not an opinion. It is libel.

The Telecrap Urinal said...

Getting it made in Canada may be cheaper but is the quality as good?

Copy the design and produce it if you want. I give you permission. I don't care about the money I just want the word out.

Charles has one of mine coming to him. You can compare his to the local design.

Sure Charles I will name you several blogs were you slander people. All the blogs regarding Mr. Bussiere and the blogs about the minister of public safety not wanting to listen to you. All the blogs were you call people snobs and the blogs were you accuse irvings, government and liberals of being facist.

Magos said...

The guy said it sounds like a money scam, not that it is a money scam. That's the difference between opinion and fact.

It's just a t-shirt so I doubt it's anything like a scam.

What supplier of cotton t-shirts has a ~$10 difference in quality?

it is not slander calling them fascists because that is what their behaviour exhibits.

There's a movement to radically change California government, by getting rid of career politicians and chopping their salaries in half. A group known as Citizens for California Reform wants to make the California legislature a part time time job, just like it was until 1966.
