Hey Charles

Here is something I meant to tell you a while back. It should make your day

Last December I received a phone call and was invited to participate in a "Media Survey". They wouldn't elaborate on exactly what the survey was about or who was initiating it, but with the promise of a light meal and a $60 appreciation payment for participating, I decided, what the heck and I agreed.

The survey didn't take place on the phone. We met in a meeting room in the building across from the Police Station on Queen St. We were broken up into groups of 10 or 12 people and put in a separate room to sit around a board table. The survey was given by a nice young woman asking questions and consisted of us writing down our answers then elaborating on our answers through group discussions.

We were only minutes into the survey when it became obvious to all of us that this survey was being initiated by the Irving Company, because the questions revolved around newspapers. with a big emphasis on the Daily Gleaner and the Telegraph Journal. But here is the part I thought you would be interested in.....

We were asked to write down a list of places we would go to, to find current local news. Then we read our lists aloud. When I read my list which began with, "Charles' Blog" www.charlesotherpersonality.blogspot.com , most of the other participants said "Oh ya, I forgot to put that one down!" and they added it to their list. Well the funny part was when the woman conducting the survey, who, I should add was not from New Brunswick, got a confused look on her face and asked, "What's that??" We then explained to her about your Blog and we continued to discuss your blog for a bit while she was taking notes about it.

I got a good chuckle over this and I thought you might too!!

Have a nice day!

Isn't that interesting? Your blog was one of their primary sources of news.

Well I have to agree, I go to your site first before I go to the www.CanadaEast.com which is owned by the Irvings.

Even the CBC can't keep up to you. Sometimes the CBC website news here in NB is two days old.

Too much bureaucracy, too many cooks making the soup - we know what kind of recipe for disaster that creates.

On the other hand, I agree that there has to be some control over the "news" in the sense that you shouldn't print material that you're not entirely certain of. And who wants to work for nothing. Sorry, the pay sucks being a blogger.

Nevertheless, I think you do a fairly good job, I haven't seen you screw up any more than the Daily Gleaner or the Telegraph Journal. Just read their "Corrections" every day - they have to make corrections all the time.

So if it's half a dozen of one and six of the other I'd say you're right up there with the Irving Empire in terms of news sources Charles.

Keep up the good work.

Charles' blog is the best source for news. It's always accurate, fair, unbiased and respectful of everybody.
He's never wrong and he's an example to follow for every young person who wishes to become a top notch journalist. He's a role model for kids too. We need more people like him.

I can say Charles is no liar and he is not lazy either. One thing about beating the feet he sometimes see things that other media would never notice in a million years, thats what I like about your blog.

Wow, Charles, you can really spell well when you want to! Look at all those nice commendations, but I really do agree with all of you!
When a news group geys a bunch of people in a room, and are still surprised that the citizen prefers honesty, you can be sure their is no hope for it in the present media. I never buy a NB newspaper nor listen to cbc, anymore.
